When I use an iPad with my social communication groups, I have noticed a tendency for students to grab the device without asking. Additionally, when they're using the device, I have to remind them to look up and speak to other individuals in the group. So, after I saw this blog post from Bob Sprankle regarding driver and navigator roles in a coding activity, I thought the idea could be extended to targeting social communication skills with fewer prompts in a coding app for children. We had a wonderful time in Chicago at the 2013 ASHA Convention, where we met amazing speech-language pathologists and audiologists who visited our booth. Check out this introductory video for LinguaPix, our upcoming iPad app for Expressive Language. The introductory video provides an overview of LinguaPix, including how to get started with adding a user and implementing the user in the Flashcards activity. In the Flashcards activity, you will learn how to navigate the tasks (Say It, Repeat It, Expand It, Describe It) and features. Please note that we're hoping to release LinguaPix around the time of the 2013 ASHA Convention, which is scheduled for Nov. 14 - 16.

We have been working hard for the last several months on an expressive language app we're calling LinguaPix. We are currently in the final testing phase in preparation of submitting the app to the iOS App Store. Since our apps are geared toward children, we believe it is important to be concerned with the privacy of children. That is why our apps are sensitive to the online safety of children. Additionally, we have put in the time and effort to create a privacy policy for our products. The privacy policy is linked from our apps on the iOS App Store, and it can be found at our website on the privacy policy page.

Shortly after iOS 7 was updated, ArtikPix 2.51 was updated for compatibility. There have been users who emailed support in regard to the audio recording feature no longer working. If that is the case for you, please check the first FAQ on our support page to learn how to enable the microphone. Note that Artikpix 2.51 includes other features added recently such as video recording as well as the Create module for creating and sharing custom decks. Now you are able to access the features with improved compatibility to iOS 7.
